3. Folkart Decorative Painting - Shivali Keshav Agrawal

About Decorative Painting

Decorative painting is an expression of joy. Just like oil and watercolor painting, it’s and artistic expression achieved with oil as well as acrylic paints. Because of the systematic methods employed, contemporary decorative painting is a highly teachable art form, which is easy to learn and requires no previous experience or academic training and drawing skills. Through the discipline in practice and a desire to learn, even those who claim a total lack of creativity can do wonders.
Tole painting is the term that has been used historically for decorative painting on tin surfaces, especially in New England and by the Pennsylvania Germans. Today, in addition to tole painting and folk art styles of many countries such as Norway, Sweden, Germany, Russia, England and Mexico, contemporary decorative painting includes facets of Early American Decorative Painting such as stenciling, bronzing, gold leafing, country painting and graining.

VERA LEININGER was born in Prague, studied in Germany, conferred a doctorate exam there and was teaching as a research assistant at the University of Cologne. After writing a historical drama "Redeemed Through Sin" (1999) which was evaluated in Chesterfield, Slamdance and Moondance competitions, Vera participated in several workshops at the Kölner Filmhaus. Following a TV-author-trainee-programme at the Storycompany in Cologne, she was working for the international film production company Gemini Film. Her principle responsibilities were the evaluation of screenplays and the development of English-language feature film productions, especially for the Hollywood agents, producers and co-producers. Since September of this year she has been running her own scriptdoctoring, consulting and development company Firehorse MovieArtsMedia. Besides managing her projects on painting and short movies, she is writing a TV-thriller-pilot "Shout at the Devil".

Vera attended the painting, drawing and sculpture class of the academic painter Helga Hošková for several years and participated in exhibitions of the Academy of Arts for youths in Prague. On the background of the practical handcraft training in her youth, Vera's creativity in fine arts shows correlation to her occupation with visual and cinematic arts. Her main emphasis on painting and arts is a combination of postmodern expressionism and surrealism - "dreaming ideas in colours".
